Description

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that quotes for a single contract are sought and requested by the
Town of Nelson, Madison County, New York, according to the information provided by the Town of
Nelson.
This project consists of the following work within the single contract:
Contract #1 – General Construction:
1. Remove all existing asphalt shingle roofing material from the salt barn. The approximate
quantity is 10,000 sf.
2. Remove and replace the existing roof vent. The new roof vent shall be a Design
Components, Inc., 9-inch continuous ridge vent. The approximate quantity is 80 lf. See attached
specifications. No damper and apparatus required.
3. Replace all damaged sheathing, purlins and girts. The approximate quantity of damaged
sheathing is 3,000 sf, and the approximate quantity of damaged purlins and girts is 700 lf. All
replacement materials should be equal to or better than the original specifications.
4. Dispose of shingles, roof vent, damaged wood, and all other material removed from the salt
barn. No material shall remain on the property.
5. Install CertainTeed's Landmark Pro brand asphalt shingle, lockdown style – Cobblestone
Gray. The approximate quantity is 10,000 sf; Contractor shall provide the actual number of squares
required, and the cost per square to be added or deducted. See attached specifications. Install all
products following the manufacturer’s installation information and recommendations. Contractor
shall be certified by CertainTeed to install these shingles, noting special procedures for low-pitched
and high-pitched installations. Allow for future east and west wall improvements by overhang
between the roof and the existing wall edge. See item #6.
6. Install a total of 250ft of overhang material on the east and west walls for future
improvements. See attached sketch.
7. Install Grace Select Ice and Water underlayment on the entire roof. The approximate
quantity is 10,000 sf. See attached specifications.
